International vocal star Randall Scarlata returns to Pittsburgh to make his Bluff Series debut in Schumann’s beloved song cycle Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love), settings of poetry by German Romantic Heinrich Heine, partnered by German lieder expert Ben Binder. The composer’s Fairy Tale Pictures are one of his very last works, and their beauty and tunefulness make their neglect difficult to understand. David Allen Wehr joins longtime collaborators Marylène Gingras-Roy and Ron Samuels in exploring this little-known corner of Schumann’s chamber music. Wehr continues his survey of Chopin with two of the most perfect Nocturnes and the dramatic and fiery Polonaise in F-Sharp Minor.
